Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever can technically mate after hitting puberty (around 6-12 months of age). However, Mr n Mrs Pet (MMP) advises mating only after 1.5 to 1.8 years of age to ensure:
- Full physical and reproductive maturity
- Healthier pregnancy outcomes
- Reduced risk of complications for both mother and puppy.
Early mating is discouraged as it can negatively affect the dog’s health and well-being.
