Sombra, a 6 year old police dog of German Shepherd breed is well known among the people of Colombia for her sniffing talent. According to reports, she solved her first case in March 2016 which worked as her step towards fame and there has been no looking back ever since! She is kept on duty at the airport during the peak time for around 6 hours. The police have accepted that she is brighter than any other dog of her age.

Recently, it has led to the capture of at least 245 smugglers and the seizure of 9 tons of cocaine from the powerful Urabeños gang in Colombia. This has caused a loss of Rs. 68 crores approximately to the gang, and infuriated, they have kept a bounty of around 50 lakhs on the dog, dead or alive.

Nowadays, apart from the regular handler of Sombra, she is also escorted by other officers to keep an eye on her. Her protection is of utmost priority for such cases and the police are trying their very best, but let us not overlook the fact that she is indeed in danger for her service to save the humankind!
