Animals give too much to us without asking for anything in return. There is definitely something about them that they are incessantly sent to the borders with our soldiers. Whenever there is a mention of dog breeds, German shepherd definitely comes to mind. They are intelligent and capable working dogs. German shepherd’s devotion and courage are unparalleled. Amazingly versatile, excelling at almost anything they are trained to do- police and military service, search and rescue, guide and assistance work for the handicapped, drug detection and competitive obedience. Labradors are friendly. For the same reason, they are easily trainable. Indian Army dogs are for intelligent and Labradors also fit in the frame. They have friendly eyes, expressing character, intelligence and good temperament. Their sense of smell is also very good. For many such reasons, Labradors have been in the forefront of many wars. Apart from being beside the soldiers in fighting, they have made a special place in the army because of their amiability. Regular interaction with these dogs relieves stress. Greater Swiss Mountain

These dogs have a high energy level. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs are bold, faithful, confident, stubborn, intelligent, and quick learners. As a working dog, they like having a job. They enjoy participating in various adventurous activities like hiking, obedience trials, herding, and weight pulling. These dogs are very strong owing to their heavy built. Indian Mudhol Hound

Also known as Caravan Hound, this is the first desi breed to make it to the Indian Army. These dogs adapt well to the Indian climate and terrain, often become efficient watchdogs and are trainable for other tasks as well. The supple breed has endurance, agility, stamina and sharpness. They survive through harsh tropical conditions and are disease-resistant. Mudhols are sight hounds with keen vision, while their strong jaw packs in a scissor bite.
