Izzy a Bernese Mountain Dog who waited for her evacuated Family to come to find her
When fires started to overtake their neighborhood in Santa Rosa, Wikiup Bridge Way, Beckyjean Widen's parents were sound asleep at home. Their dog Izzy, a female Bernese Mountain Dog escaped the fire with only a few seconds to spare. The family undertook the terrifying drive through flames and over a blazing bridge to safety since there was no way to save Izzy without endangering themselves.
Even the thought of the death of Izzy hurt the family more than the fact that their house had been destroyed. Widen's brother and husband hiked the three miles up to the family property to check if anything remained in the hopes of a miracle, and there comes Izzy who ran across the pile of ashes that was left in the neighborhood. There she was all fit and unharmed. This was the best sight that the Widens might have ever experienced in their lives. They didn't expect Izzy to be there, but there was an ounce of hope that they had hoped to see Izzy again. They were ready to take the chance and their hope was turned into reality, giving them Izzy back. As Izzy emerged from the smoke they were both in tears and we are sure this video will need you to fetch your box of tissues too.
"We are happy this story is bringing so much joy to people in this devastating time for our community," Says Widen. "We have no idea where she hid," said Widen, "but wherever she went, she had an angel watching over her." Widen adds.
Although Izzy's huge adventure will always be a delightful, pleasant mystery, she and her humans are now safe with family in Windsor.
