Animal Rights: Ending the Dog Meat Trade

Animal campaigners aim is to free the animals from any kind of humility and unrecognised things, often viewed by the government and the exploitative bussiness. Their goal is to aware the people of the concept that animals are feeling, thinking and sentient entities that should be treated with respect and dignity. Understanding the true meaning of “animal rights” is important for understanding the campaign’s logic.

Animal Rights :

Animal Rights are ethical principles based on the idea that animals should have the freedom to live their own lives and free from human interest. Human rights are established in laws to safeguard the freedoms like the freedom of speech, the prohibition against torture, and the right to participate in democratic processes. Naturally, these options are circumscribed depending on the social places like gender, race and class, but  generally speaking, human rights defend the essential concepts of what makes human lives worth living. Similar goals are pursued by animal rights, but only for non-human creatures.

Animal rights and animal exploitation are diametrically opposed. Animals explioted by humans for food, experimentation, or even as pets are all example of animal exploitation. When people destroy an animal’s habitat, they are also violating their animal rights. This makes it more difficult for animal to have fulfilling lives that they choose

Few examples of animal rights are :

Here is a list of potential animal rights that may be implemented in the future, even though there are presently few laws in the US and the UK that acknowledge or defend animal’s rights to spend their lives without the interference from humans :

  • Hunting animals is prohibited.
  • Animals shouldn’t be domesticated.
  • It is forbidden to utilize animals as food.
  • To enable animals to exist as they choose, their environments must be preserved.
  • Now that we have a basic understanding of animal rights, let's get to what do you mean by a dog meat trade.
Dogs Meat Trade:

What do you mean by dog meat trade?

The dogs are ruthlessly slaughtered in millions for eating every year across Asia in a dog slaughter house, basically a trade that includes horrible cruelty and illicit behaviour.

It is impossobile to get the precise figures, as this trade is completely illegal and unregulated.

The Dog smugglers may buy the animals from their owners or take them off from the streets. The thirsty, hungry, sick, terrified and hurt are packed onto the trucks and hauled for days before being hanged or beaten to death at markets or  in a dog slaughter house.

How can we stop dog meat trade?

The dog meat trade has evolved into such an illegal and illicit act that thinking on how can we stop dog meat trade has become a complex challege.

But to end it, we can work and put some efforts in things like :

  • Bringing the horrible event to light :
Our efforts to draw an attention to the misery that the dogs go through for the meat trade are an effective means of influencing people’s attitudes.

  • Taking in and saving the dogs:
Rescue efforts alone are not sufficient to put a stop to the dog meat trade that causes hundreds of thousands of dogs in Asia to suffer for their flesh.

  • Making Laws:
Our aim should be banning the dog meat trade by arguing the respective governments to pledge to phase out the production of dog meat by shutting down dogs slaughter houses and collabrate with the law makers who support this reform.

  • Putting an end to dog traffickers and thieves
In most of Asia, the dog meat trade is being run by criminal activities, yet prosecutions are quite unnatural. Enhancing law enforcement should be a top goal in order to prevent dog trafficking, safeguard animals, and raise the number of people who are apprehended and found guilty of dog trade offenses.
  • Campaigns for public awareness
The majority of people in Asia do not consume dog meat, and they are becoming more and more in favor of ending the trade, especially in areas where public knowledge of the cruelty involved has increased as a result of lobbying and have initiated to put efforts on how to stop dog meat trade to ban it completely.

Is the dog meat trade illegal?

Although it is forbidden to eat dog meat in India, hundreds of animals are ruthlessly slaughtered for the meat trade in the remote northeastern regions of India. Some people believe that dog meat has significant nutritional and therapeutic benefits.

Even though, the dog meat trade is illegal and forbidden to kill the dog in many nations, there is a lax enforcement of the law in many areas, and dog meat is nevertheless a widely consumed food. There are no international regulations that forbid eating dog meat. As a result, the UK government is unable to interfere or impose trade sanctions on nations where eating dog meat is viewed as culturally acceptable.

Is the dog meat trade been banned?

The dog meat trade has been banned in few of the countries across the world. Recently, A measure to outlaw the sale and consumption of dog meat was approved by the South Korean parliament. This would put an end to the contentious, centuries-old practice at a time when animal protection is gaining ground. In the past, eating dog flesh was thought to increase stamina during the steamy Korean summer.

Conclusion :

Closing dog meat farms permanently breaks the cycle of suffering by preventing hundreds of puppies from being born into the trade and saving the dogs we rescue. The dog meat trade is illegal due to the arbitrary capture, inhumane treatment, and appalling conditions of animals. It is time to outlaw the consumption of dog meat, raising awareness globally through petitions and donations to designated charities. Collectively, we can prevent these animals from suffering needlessly.
