What to do if your dog has an emergency?
If an emergency situation arises, keep calm, but act fast. The first thing you should do is assess your dog: Is he breathing? in senses? is bleeding? Once you know what to do, you can take measures to stabilize your dog. Then, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Follow your doctor's advice, which is often to take your dog to the doctor.
Respiratory troubles and suffocation
If your dog is gasping for air or gagging, then it is possible that he is suffocating or experiencing some other form of respiratory emergencies. Enable it, then try to open your dog's mouth carefully and find windmills. If you see something, you can try to remove it. Beware of a dog bite.

Injury
If your dog has a wound that is bleeding very heavy and you can not get your veterinarian immediately, try to clean the wound with a sterile saline or betadine-based antiseptic wipes. Cover the wound with a non-stick pad, wrap it with some gauze and keep it safe with a medical tape until you can get to the veterinarian.
Insect Bite
If swelling or bruising on the bite/sting site is severe, if your dog has swelling or rings on the face, or if your dog has breathing trouble, then take him to the nearest veterinary doctor for treatment.
Snake cutting is a different matter, it can be lethal if left untreated. If you know that a snake had bitten your dog, then immediately visit the nearest vet. If you feel that a bug bite, bee sting or light wound begins to become more serious, then you should not wait to see a veterinarian.
If after all these things, you feel that your pet needs urgent treatment, consult a vet.
